Feeding Hungry

Christ's Table has more mouths to feed than it has in years past.

It served an additional eight thousand meals in 2009, when compared to 2008, and 600 more meals this January than this time last year.

"There's a lot of people out of work. If we look at gas prices, electric, and heating has gone up. People have to use their money to pay their bills, and they don't really have the money for food, " says Executive Director, Gretchen Sayre.

Sayre says the increase has been difficult because the food banks aren't receiving as much food and Christ's Table isn't receiving as much funding, but she says it's something the community can't do without.

"It's very humbling that we can do it. I've always felt if we can feed on child a day, we're doing what God is asking us to do because we're feeding God's children. That's our mission, " says Sayre.

Sayre says anonymous food donations from local restaurants has been a great help in feeding the hungry.
