The village of Byesville can no longer turn to one local law enforcement agency for help.
The Village Council voted last night to get rid of the Byesville Police Department.
Police Chief, John Hornak, says that decision will take effect within 10 days.
The Byesville Police Department initially laid-off two employees last January, and now, Hormak says the remaining three employees will be let go.
He says it's a decision his department knew was coming because of a tight city budget, but he says he's afraid ii will affect the safety of the city's 2,800 residents.
The Byesville Police Department has been in existence for about 125 years.
