The news has gone from bad to worse for a Zanesville food distribution company.

WHIZ News has learned that Mattingly Foods will start the layoff of employees in May, much sooner than the 6 month time-line initially reported.

Mattingly employees tell WHIZ News that they received a voice mail from the company announcing that they not only lost their biggest account, Bob Evans Restaurants, but also lost another large client, Steak n' Shake.

Company officials have not returned calls to WHIZ News to comment on this latest development.

A call to the Teamsters Union Local 637 in Zanesville was also not returned for comment.

An employee at the State Street distribution center, who did not want to be identified, told WHIZ News that the Cash and Carry operation and a distribution operation in Louisville, Kentucky will not be affected by Tuesday's developments.

The company employs around 250 workers in Zanesville.
