Portraits Help Frazeysburg Fire

Residents in Frazeysburg struck a pose Sunday to help the local fire department.

The Frazeysburg Volunteer Fire Department sent out mailers weeks ago asking locals for a donation to the fire department. With a donation, families could come to the fire station Sunday to have a free 8 x 10 portrait taken by Color Craft Family Portraits. For each family photographed, the fire department receives $10 dollars and a free smoke detector.

"As you can see, we just put into service this new truck.  We are currently trying to raise funds to get us some miscellaneous hand tools for it. It comes complete with a thermal imaging command center which basically allows the officer in charge to see exactly what is going on inside the house with the fire fighters," tells Chief David Smith.

The new truck hit the streets in February and was custom made for the Frazeysburg Volunteer Fire Department. Since the station is volunteer based, Chief Smith says many of the men volunteer their time because they enjoy serving their community.

"Well for me I love it and along with the other guys and I think they are here because they have their heart in it and they really enjoy helping the community," tells Chief Smith.

Chief Smith says he expects to see around thirty families come in for their portraits. He says this event brings in around two thousand dollars for the department and that money is important to their operation.
