ZBus New Service

Starting Monday, anyone can ride with pride on Z-Bus.

A new curb to curb express service will be available Monday for the general public. Previously, the curb to curb service was reserved only for people over sixty-five and the handicapped. But that all changed after Z-Bus received stimulus money.

"Being a public agency, we were eligible to receive the ARRA stimulus money as it is better known as.  We actually purchased six of these modified mini vans for this service," says Steve Connell the General Manager of Z-Bus.

Each of the vans cost around $42,000. Four of the vans will be here in Zanesville and two will be stationed in Cambridge. Each van can hold up to six people.

"We can have anyone who wants to ride it, whether they are in a wheelchair or not, they have ramps, they are a low floor vehicles so we can transport people with a wheelchair, " says Connell.

A single passenger ride is $7 and no reservations are required, but Z-Bus services are restricted to its normal operating hours. In Zanesville that is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. til 5 p.m. In Cambridge that is Monday through Friday 6 a.m. til 7 p.m.
