Voting Absentee

You can begin voting in this year's May Primary Election.

It's the first day for absentee ballots.

"You can actually call our office and request an application for an absentee ballot, and we'll gladly mail that out to you. You can go on our Website. You can print out an application for an absentee ballot and mail that in, or you can come in the office here to fill out an application, " says Muskingum County Board of Elections Executive Director, Chris Hamill.

Hamill says she expects about a 40 percent voting turnout in the upcoming election, with a majority of people taking advantage of voting by absentee ballot.

"They can go online and check things out that way, or like I say, once a ballot is mailed to them, they can actually focus on that candidate and see what they know about that candidate, " says Hamill.

Some of the issues voters will see on the ballot include: state issue one that deals with the Ohio program for the Third Frontier, state issue two that deals with the moving of the casino, and a local issue involving the Muskingum County Home Renewal Levy.

To vote in the may primaries, you must be registered by April 5th. To vote by absentee, you must request a ballot by May 1st at noon.
