Ohio residents will no longer have to drive to neighboring states to take part in Powerball.
The popular multi-state lottery game with a starting jackpot of $20 million is going on sale in the Buckeye State Friday. Local retailers are getting prepared for the customers wanting to take the 1 in 195 million chance of winning the jackpot.
"New people wanna play new games. I've already passed out a lot of cards for it," said Mother Tucker's Manager Josh Bailey.
To get residents ready the Ohio Lottery held flash mobs across the state of dancing lottery balls. Winning at Powerball is as easy as matching five number out of a pool from 1 to 59. Players win varying amounts by matching number combinations in one of nine ways. More importantly it keeps proceeds from rolling out of state.
"They defiantly won't be going to West Virginia for that," said Bailey. "Since we have it, it will just be right here."
Tickets for the first drawing will remain on sale until Saturday at 10pm. Drawings for the Powerball take place on Wednesday's and Saturdays.
