Oertel on Cake Auction Day One

The annual Carr Center Cake Auction is well on its way to a successful year.

Nearly half the 410 cakes now have new homes with owners excited about the prizes they've won.

"Everything's going fine," said Carr Center Executive Director Anna Oertel. "We're about on track to where we were this time last year. The energy is fabulous. People are calling in all the time. We've even got more people bringing out cakes today. So things are going well."

The final amount raised today is $50,980.00. That's about $270 down from last year.

The cake auction will finish up tomorrow at the Colony Square Mall starting at 8:15 in the morning.
