Roush on Hoax

What was reported as an armed robbery, is now being called hoax.

According to Detective Sargeant Ric Roush of the Zanesville Police Department the incident occurred on January 18 of this year.

"A Creno's pizza delivery driver reported that he had been the victim of an armed robbery, while delivering a pizza in the 1700 block of W. Main Street in Zanesville," said Roush.

Roush said there were certain things brought up in the investigation that were suspicious on the part of the victim. He said it was determined the robbery did not happen.

"It's bad enough here in town when get legitimate armed robberies," said Roush. "We have enough of those as it is. But then we are also seeing more and more robberies in town that quite frankly just are not occurring as reported."

According to Roush, the Creno's employee is 39-year old Timothy Addis.

He was charged with falsification and petty theft, but pled out to one count of disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to 20 days in jail and to pay restitution, but Judge Joseph suspended the jail time.
