Driver Flees

The Zanesville Police Department is searching for a driver who struck a child on a bike and then fled.

The accident happened shortly before 4:30 Tuesday at the intersection of Pine Street and Prospect Avenue. According to Lt. Tony Coury, an 11-year-old boy was riding his bike on Prospect and was struck by a northbound car when crossing Pine.

The woman who hit the boy stopped briefly and then fled.

"Witnesses describe the vehicle as a white in color, possible Grand Am, with some paint problems, possible four-door," says Coury.

The boy was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with visible facial injuries. If anyone has information on this hit-and-run contact the Zanesville Police Department at 455-0700.
