Honoring Veterans

The rain isn't stopping Zanesville residents from paying tribute to our local veterans.

People gathered for another morning service that was held at Greenwood Cemetery.

"For one thing, I'm here to honor my husband. He passed away 2 years ago. His name will be read, " says Zanesville resident Marla Miller.

The names of veterans who have passed on within the year were read during the service.

Holly Minnich says she was attending to support her husband, who is a veteran and part of the honor guard for the VFW.

"When my husband got home from Vietnam, they weren't acknowledged at all. So, it means a big part to us for everyone to acknowledge all of the veterans, " says Minnich.

"Our dad was in World War II, and he raised us to be very patriotic, be very American. I just think it's the right thing to do for our country, " says Julia Wahl.

All three say it's important to honor the veterans who have passed on, the veterans who served our country, and the soldiers who are currently part of the military.
