The Athens Police Department is issuing a warrant for the arrest of an Ohio University football player, who was allegedly involved in a weekend burglary and stabbing.

Officers were dispatched to the scene of the apparent burglary Sunday morning at 159 Mill Street. The victim's statement explained that an unknown man was standing in his bedroom late Saturday night. The victim shouted something to the suspect and startled him, causing the man to break through the home's glass door.

That suspect was later involved in a stabbing at an OU dormitory, with glass from the door at the earlier incident. That victim was taken to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital for injuries.

Officers say they tried to locate the suspect late Sunday but believe he has fled.

His name will not be released until formal charges are filed, but he is described as a black male, around 6'3", with black dreadlocks.
