The Zanesville Police Department is prepared to take appropriate actions against anyone who misbehaves during this weekend's Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, and place people in jail if needed.

Sergeant Chris Phipps says in addition to the assigned weekend crews, ZPD will have several extra off-duty officers working for security reasons.

"We'll be doing static patrol, covering the major areas to make sure that everyone is safe and everything goes as smoothly as possible, " says Phipps.

Phipps says they always run into people who consider the downtown road closures an inconvenience.

"This year, due to the fact that they've shrunk it down somewhat, it shouldn't be as much of a problem. I hope," says Phipps.

He says most of the incidents that do take place over the weekend are minor problems.
