Blood Drive

The Summer months are known for warm weather, vacations, and time in the pool, but the American Red Cross wants to stress that it's still important to take time, and give blood.

Two blood drives will be held on June 25, and the Red Cross urges people to come out and give.

"We have two special blood drives actually set up to help boost our summer collections which is the most difficult time of the year for us to collect blood and we're comarketing them. We have one, is Muskingum County and one in Perry County," says Donor Recruitment Representative, Lori Gaitten.

In Muskingum County, the drive will be held from 1 to 7pm at Colony Square Mall. In Perry County, you can donate at the Perry county District Library from 12 to 6pm. There will be free gifts to all who donate on these days.

"To schedule an appointment, we want everybody to call 1-800-RED-CROSS to get their appointment on the books for both places here at the Perry County Library and at the Colony Square Mall," says Gaitten.

The Summer months are an especially important time to give. Memorial Day to Labor Day is known as trauma season and there is an increase in blood demand so make sure to schedule your appointment to donate.
