The YMCA has recently decided to change its name to just, "the Y" , the organization also announced a new brand strategy.
After two years of analysis and research, the YMCA has concluded that changing its name to "the Y" will help make the organization more progressive with the community.
"You know when most people refer to, I'm going to, they don't necessarily say I'm going to the YMCA, they say I'm going to the Y," said Craig Miracle from the Muskingum Family YMCA.
Along with changing the logo, "the Y" will also have three main areas of focus: youth development, healthy living, and social responsilbity.
"This new forward thinking logo, that kind of more incorporates the diversity of the community we serve. And going forward, we're still, we are still the Muskingum Family YMCA, but when we refer to it as just the Y, it is the Y," said Miracle.
The Y's former logo had been in place since 1967.
