A Heath man may face charges after a four hour stand-off early this morning.

The Police Department says it received a call around two a.m. that a 40-year-old man was making threats to harm himself and possibly others at his Partridge Court home. The Newark Police Department and the Licking County Sheriff's Office were also called to assist.

Neighbors were evacuated and negotiators were able to find out that the man was alone but complaining of mental distress. After speaking with the man for four hours, patrolmen say he eventually surrendered peacefully. He was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital, where he is seeing mental health professionals.

The Prosecutor's Office is reviewing possible charges.
