The State Highway Patrol is investigating a three vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 70 in Licking County.

It happened just before 5:00 a.m. Wednesday near the State Route 79 exit.

According to the Granville Post, a 1998 Mazda Millennia and a 2010 Dodge Caravan were travelling east on I-70.

The Patrol says the Millennia rear ended the Caravan causing both vehicles to go off the left side of the roadway striking the median cable barrier.

The Mazda then overturned across the cable onto the westbound lanes of I-70 and was struck by a Chevy Cavalier.

The driver of the Mazda was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Cavalier was flown by Med Flight to OSU Medical Center.

Both lanes of Interstate 70 were closed Wednesday morning but have since been re-opened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
