The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office says it's treating a five-month-old's death as a homicide.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 2000 block of the east pike just after midnight Monday. They discovered that Dash Christopher Ray Wright, who was with family, was not breathing. The baby was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Sheriff Matt Lutz says it does not appear that the death was brought on by sudden infant death syndrome, but he says a preliminary autopsy report indicates their was blunt force trauma to the baby's skull.
The Sheriff's Office is currently interviewing witnesses, but no arrests have been made in the case yet. Lutz says he plans to bring it before the Prosecutor's Office next week.
