Interstate 70 Accident

An accident on Interstate 70 shuts down both Westbound lanes for almost a half hour, and sends one woman to the hospital.

It happened around 6 p.m shortly before the Adamsville exit. Trooper Adam Mckenzie of the State Highway Patrol says a white Mazda with New Jersey plates was traveling West on the interstate.

"It traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and then traveled back onto the roadway into the left lane where it struck a semi. It then came back off the right side again and struck an embankment where it came to rest," says Trooper Mckenzie.

Trooper Mckenzie calls the damage to the semi 'cosmetic.' He says it's unknown what caused the driver to swerve off the right side of the roadway, or her injuries. The accident remains under investigation. Washington Township Fire Department and Community Ambulance were on the scene.
