Dogs are sunbathing at one local pool.
The Friends of New Concord Area Pool hosted the First Annual Doggie Day. About 20 dogs and their owners came out to show support.
"We thought it'd be great to get the owners and their k-9 companions out for a swim and help raise money for the pool," said Friends of New Concord Area Pool member Angie Nelson.
All proceeds will help with general operating costs of the facility. While some owners may be hesitant to take their dogs for a swim, Nelson encourages all to try it.
"Just do it slowly, don't force them to do anything they don't want to do, and lot's of positive reinforcement when they do do what you want them to do. And getting them excited about it and coaxing them gently," said Nelson.
Nelson says she expects to make a couple hundred dollars to benefit the pool and hopes next year's Doggie Day is even bigger.
