One local fire department wants you to have the opportunity to see what your tax dollars go toward.
Harrison Township Volunteer Firefighter Chad Orwig said they are holding an event Saturday the 11th starting at 10a.m. to show people how the station operates.
"It allows people to just come in and see what we're spending money on. See what kind of equipment we use and operate out of this station. It allows them to see what situations we can take care of and which ones we have to call in mutual aid." Orwig said.
"We also have a car donated to us that we can show and demonstrate someone being extracted from, cutting somebody out of the vehicle. For children there's going to be a smoke trailer so you can have kids come down and go through the smoke trailer. It shows them how to get out of a fire and what they can do in case their house starts to fill with smoke," Orwig said.
The smoke trailer will be there from 2:00pm till 6:00 pm. Some of the community are donating baked goods and there will be a 50/50 raffle as well. The fire department will also do vital screenings like checking people's blood pressure, heart rate, pulse rate and they will even do a blood sugar test.
