Elder-Beerman is taking part in a national campaign to make sure people in need are taken care of.
The "Goodwill Sale" kicks off Wednesday and will continue through September 29th. It's asking the public to donate gently used clothes, furniture, and other household items. Drop off boxes will be located at the Goodwill store on Maple Avenue and the Elder-Beerman store at the Colony Square Mall.
"We have an increase in our shoppers, especially with the economy being the way it is, " says Goodwill Retail Store Manager, Connie Kimble.
It's an increase of 30 to 40 customers per day. The "Goodwill Sale" has brought in 54 million items over the past 16 years, and these donations have continued helping the store with its mission.
"To provide work opportunity skills, development, and employment services to barrier to employment, " says Kimble.
Everyone who donates will receive coupons to Elder-Beerman. Kimble says the coupons are good for items that normally wouldn't be on sale in the store.
