A Newark man is taken to the hospital almost 10 hours after his car crashes in Licking County.

It happened around 12:30 Sunday morning on State Route 657.

The Granville Post of the State Highway Patrol says 27-year-old Daniel Hofacker was traveling northwest when he lost control of his 1997 black Acura. Troopers say the car spun, went off the left side of the road, hit a ditch, overturned, and came to rest against a tree. They say the car was hard to see from the roadway, but a passerby eventually noticed the accident, and the Granville Post responded around 10:15 a.m.

Troopers say Hofacker was unconscious and taken by Medflight to OSU Medical Center in Columbus. He is listed in critical condition at this time.

The accident remains under investigation.
