College Day

High school seniors are thinking about college today.

Zane State College and Ohio University Zanesville held their 30th College Day Friday. Administrative Assistant Jody Burchett said this is the biggest recruiting event they have and more than 1,200 students from the area came to check out 67 different colleges and universities.

"It's an opportunity for students who may not have a chance to go for a college visit.  They get a chance to talk to a college representative from some place that they may want to go. So if they want to go to a college in Pennsylvania or West Virginia but don't have a chance to go visit they can talk to those representative here in their own backyard," Burchett said.

Burchett said it's just to get them thinking about college and help to prepare students like Rachel Sharky a Senior at West Muskingum High School for the next step in higher education.

"The majority of kids are here because they need questions answered so that's the goal. I just got done speaking with Miami University admissions counselor...I had a question about taking precalculus and that helped a lot,"Sharky said.

There were 67 colleges and universities that participated including schools from West Virginia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
