A special cause is giving bikers another chance to ride.
More than 80 bikers gathered for a poker run at East End Cafe to benefit Cindy Sharrer. Sharrer was assaulted last month after a man robbed the Lighthouse Inn where she was working, threw her in a cooler and attempted to light the building on fire.
"A woman that's been a friend of mine for years, her husband got injured in a motorcycle wreck years ago and she's been taking care of him, he's in a wheelchair and now she's in one too," said Benefit Organizer Kenny Forsythe.
Forsythe says during the attack, Sharrer had broken a bone in her leg and needed surgery. All proceeds will help with her medical bills. He says the incident came as shock to everyone who knows her.
"It kind of upset me that he would do that but I really felt bad for her, she's a 60-year-old grandmother and she really doesn't need to be injured," says the friend.
Cody Fisher, 29, was arrested in connection to the crime and faces six felony charges, including attempted murder. He remains in Muskingum County jail.
