Zanesville police arrest three people of interest in connection with a string of recent car and business break-ins, however they believe there could be more individuals involved.
Wednesday around 6 p.m., Zanesville police officers apprehended three Zanesville residents who they had been investigating in relation to numerous break-ins around the city. Police took a 31 year old male, a 33 year old female, and a 34 year old man into custody.
"One of the males was apprehended immediately by the officer. The other male and the female took off running at that time. The other male ended up jumping into the Muskingum River. He was apprehended," says Sgt. Ric Roush.
The suspects are currently incarcerated in the Zanesville City Jail. Police are not releasing their names until the investigation is complete. In the meantime, they are warning locals that more break-ins are possible.
"For people when they do park their vehicles in these type of lots, the main things that they can do is for one, lock their vehicle, and by all means, don't leave anything of value inside the vehicle that is easily seen," says Roush.
Sergeant Roush says the break-ins have targeted multiple businesses including bars, a local flower shop, and numerous hotel parking lots.
