Governor Ted Strickland visited Zanesville Tuesday evening to thank democratic voters for their support.
Strickland says the Democratic Headquarters in Zanesville was his last stop during the campaign. He also made a surprising announcement that he'll probably never run for another political office.
He says the last thing he wants to see is for the republicans to take control of congress.
"The republicans say they want to go back to the policies of George Bush and Dick Cheney, they want to undue everything that this current congress has done and I think that's wrong," said Governor Strickland.
He says voter turn out among the youth tend to be better for presidential elections, but he says mid-term races are just as important.
"The person who occupies the governor's office makes a lot of decisions that affect young people and that's why I'm encouraging young people to always be involved," he said.
John Kasich won the race for Ohio Governor.
