A man is cited with failure to control after a rollover crash on I-70 East.

Trooper Adam McKenzie of the State Highway Patrol says at around 6 p.m. Ryan Scalan, 23, of Virginia swerved to miss a deer near the State Route 83 exit.

"The white Ford 150 was east bound on 70 traveled off the right side of the roadway struck the embankment overturned and then struck the highway sign," he said.

Scalan was able to escape the vehicle uninjured. The State Highway Patrol's two week holiday enforcement initiative kicks off tomorrow due to high traffic volume during Thanksgiving.

"We will be out in full force on the holidays and we will be like I said doing our job like we normally do but we're encouraging people to slow down, take their time and just be extra careful," said Trooper McKenzie.

Reports indicate that there were nearly 3,000 accidents during Thanksgiving weekend last year.
