A local school honors area veterans Wednesday morning.
At Maysville Middle School veterans, invited by students, were treated to songs and breakfast during a special event. One student taking part was the school's student council president who spoke about the importance of honoring those in the military.
"They kept out country free and they deserve it," explained Matthew Pitcock.
Principal Daniels said that involving the students program teaches them life lessons.
"It teaches them about hard work and sacrifice. Freedom comes with a cost and unfortunately sometimes that involves death," said Daniels. "in the news of today with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, kids today are definitely tied to this."
The crowd on hand also was treated to a performance by the school's choir who sang the songs of all the military branches.
