Operation Christmas Spirit

One organization is making sure our troops overseas have a happy holidays.

The volunteer's at Operation Spirit are having a hard time finding a free moment to take a break from packing up boxes to send to the troops. So far 170 boxes have been sent along with 260 stockings filled with goodies to help the troops have a great season.

"I think it's more important during the holidays because people especially those that don't have family support are lonely," said Director of Operation Spirit Melodie Pittman. "It creates a family atmosphere for them. Even though we're not their immediate family they're our family."

There's a two week window left for packages to arrive. Pittman said community support has been truly special.

"It's overwhelming," said a teary eyed Pittman. "The last three months have been miracle after miracle. It has been an amazing journey."

If you're interested in donating items overseas Pittman encourages people to stop by for a list of products and items because of mailing regulations some items can't be sent through the mail. They're also looking for new or gently used board games, puzzle books, candies and stockings.
