High water poses a problem for a local hunter early Wednesday morning.

Just before 7:30 a call came in to the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office regarding a person in need of rescue at the Dillon Sportsman Area.

"He was on his way out hunting," said Licking Township Firefighter Dustin Shipley. "He didn't see the water and started driving in it, then his car stalled out after he got in so deep."

Licking and Falls Township Fire Departments brought their boats and squads to the scene.

"One member of the rescue team walked out, hooked the winch from our grass truck up and pulled him out," said Shipley.

The driver of the vehicle wasn't transported to the hospital. Firefighters said drivers should watch their surroundings, never drive through standing water and keep your cell phone charged so you can get a hold of someone in an emergency.
