One Muskingum County building is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
The Juvenile Court and Detention Center in Zanesville has been up and running for the last decade. According to Magistrate Steven Buck, the facilities took over two years to design, including the emphasis of safety within the buildings.
"Good design is its own security and that's proven true. We have an underground tunnel under this court room that goes back to our detention facility that allows secure passage of any juveniles who may need to be detained to go from our detention center to the courtroom without having to cross paths with either the general public or the court staff," says Buck.
Buck says they built the new buildings because demand was so high in the 90's and credits the taxpayers for their continuous support over the years.
