The past 24 hours have been busy for the Ohio Department of Transportation as crews continue to clear area roadways from this latest winter storm.
ODOT Public Information Officer, Kate Stickle, says they've already placed another order for more salt to make sure there's enough on hand to tackle any future storms.
"So far, on this particular storm, we have used 600 tons of salt material spreading it on the roadways making sure our crews are out and that they are attentive to the roadways that need cleared and spreading material where needed," said Stickle.
When driving in snow, remember to brake early, brake slow, and brake correctly by never slamming on your brakes. Instead, gently pump the pedal giving yourself plenty of room to stop. Stickle says it is also important to be safe around snowplows.
"As always don't crowd the plow. Our crews are out there trying to make sure the roadways are clear for you and safe and passable so you can get to your destinations. We want to encourage motorists not to crowd the plow so you can give them some room and distance," said Stickle.
