The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol is urging motorists to not drink and drive this New Year's Holiday.
Trooper Adam Mckenzie says to have a designated driver planned well in advance or to take a taxi if you have been drinking.
"However like i said if they choose to drink and drive, we will be stepping up our enforcements in an attempt to combat impaired drivers," says Mckenzie
Mckenzie says that with the holiday season coming to a close and travelers still on the road, drivers should take extra precautions.
"Just give yourself more time, allow greater distances between you and other vehicles, this time of year the chances of encountering an impaired driver on the road with you is pretty high. "
Reports show that ten people died in Ohio crashes around the holiday just a year ago, including seven accidents related to alcohol use.
