Downtown Zanesville's Potter's Alley project is still a slow work in progress.
In their quarterly meeting, the Community Improvement Corporation of Zanesville is continuing to push the development of Downtown Zanesville but with the economy in the red, the project is at a standstill.
"We were hoping for a movie theatre, restaurants and other retails establishments that would enhance the current businesses that are in the downtown area," says Gene Macdonald, CIC Chairman for Zanesville.
With Maple Avenue being the main strip of most businesses in town, the CIC is hoping to make the downtown area more economically viable with its location being key.
"The access from the Interstate and the ease of exiting and returning to the Interstate makes the downtown a vehicle option for various businesses," says Macdonald.
Macdonald says Potter's Alley hopes to help the tax base as well as employment opportunities in the community with what they want to bring to the downtown area.
