One local man is being recognized for his great impact on the community.
Dan Hartman is the recipient of this year's Sertoma Service to Mankind Award; an award that recognizes a local resident who has given his/her time and energy to improve the community. Hartman says he feels extremely blessed to receive this prestigious award.
"It's an exceptional honor. I have watched people for years go up front and get it and not thinking for an instant it would ever happen to me or my family. It's very honoring," said Hartman.
Hartman recently retired from being Executive Director of the Muskingum Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross. Along with his other list of accomplishments, he has invested hundreds of volunteer hours in the United Way program and is also a board member of the Energy Cooperative's Round-Up Foundation. He says his parents have always been his biggest influence and when you are brought up right, the rest of it follows.
