This year's flu season is arriving early here in Zanesville and the rest of Ohio.
Patient advocate for Rambo Memorial Health Center Corrie Stone says you can get your flu shot for free at the center. And even more good news, scientists believe this year's vaccine is dead on.
"We do feel that this year's strain of the flu vaccine is where it's supposed to be at. It seems to be preventing everyone and it does contain the H1N1 this year which was a big issue for people last year," says Stone.
There are some measures you can take to help not only your overall health, but specifically your immune system to help combat the flu if it happens to hit you.
"We're encouraging people to eat right, get plenty of rest, take your multivitamins, wash your hands, and check with your health care provider if you have any questions."
A reminder that residents are being urged to get your flu shots now because the vaccine takes a good two weeks to get into your system.
