Three people were taken into custody Monday evening as a part of a drug investigation in Zanesville.
The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office in a joint effort with the Zanesville Police Department, executed a search warrant at 1230 Melrose Avenue, where drugs, U.S. currency and firearms were discovered.
"We do a lot of these drug investigations and at different times we get probable cause to execute a search warrant and that's what we did tonight at about 6:30 p.m. we hit this house," said Sheriff Matt Lutz.
Sheriff Lutz said that two males and one female were taken into custody. Two children were also present in the home and were released to family members.
"Officers are inside finishing up the search and we'll take all of the contraband and evidence into our possession and put it into evidence and tomorrow the case will be presented to Mike Haddox our prosecutor for charges," he said.
He said the Sheriff's Office and ZPD recently joined forces on investigations like this one to help combat illegal drug use in our area.
