Blood counts were extremely low this winter, but February got the count back on track.
Between the 27 counties in the Central Ohio Region they need 650 units of blood daily. The bad weather in December and January caused drive cancelations and bad turn outs. The result was a dangerously low blood count.
"We are in recovery mode now so the blood supply is recovering but we still need blood. It's like a river , you can dame it up , but it doesn't stop; the need for blood continues everyday," Richard Dayton, Red Cross.
On St. Patrick's Day celebrate green by giving red (blood) at the Red Cross on 7th Street in Zanesville.
