Coming together to Pray

In a time of uncertainty and difficulties one group is asking the community to pray.

May 5 marks the 59th observance of the National Day of Prayer. One organizer met with Muskingum County Commissioners in hopes of gaining their support of the day and so they could encourage others to come together as a community.

"It's the one day when all differences of religions can be put aside and we can come together in a common goal to show care for our community," said Muskingum County Commissioner Brian Hill.

The chairperson of this year's event said as a community those in attendance will pray for the government, families and world among other issues.

"There is a scripture in the Bible in Jeremiah that says "Call on me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things," said Chairperson Ruth DiVincenzo. "I believe that we are turning to a God that can do that."

The National Day of Prayer will take place May 5 at 7p.m. at Zanesville High School.
