Eating at one local restaurant chain can help fight diabetes in Southeastern Ohio.

Thursday, if you eat at any of the three Bob Evans chains in Zanesville from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., fifteen percent of the proceeds will go to the Lions Club and will then be donated to Genesis for their Diabetes Education Fund.

"They are involved in a lot of different things like cancer research but they're involved in diabetes too. Anything to help out the medical part of the community," said Limestone Valley Lion's Club member Dan Cowden.

While the Lions Clubs are famous for raising funds for eye glasses they said they chose diabetes research because it's linked to blindness.

"It's one of the things that causes blindness and the more education on diabetes the better we are," said Cowden.

Seven Lions' Clubs and two Leo Clubs joined together to take part in the project.
