The Carr Center Cake Auction brought in nearly 50,000 dollars Thursday.
The first day total was 48,120 dollars. The Colony Square Mall was packed with spectators for the auction.
"The people have come out in numbers. The bidding is spirited. It's generous and once again the community of Zanesville has proven themselves to be very supportive of the Carr Center," said John Hajjar, Executive Director, Carr Center
Volunteer Tracy Murphy's grandfather started the Cake Auction in Zanesville 25 years ago. She says back then, they only had 40 cakes for the first auction and now, there's more than 400.
"He would just be amazed at the crowd and the cakes and the way things look now. I mean cakes are so different. They are big and huge compared to tiny little sheet cakes years ago," said Murphy.
The Cake Auction continues Friday at the mall. Bidding starts at 8:15 in the morning and runs until 6 pm. You can hear the latest bids for the cakes on AM 1240 and streamed live right here on our web site.
