2011 Road Resurfacing Project

The Muskingum County Commisioners held a bid opening on Monday for the 2011 Road Resurfacing Project.

The Shelly Company of Thornville and Shelly and Sands Inc. of Zanesville were the only two to submit bids. This is a part of a paving project and is divided into two sections.

"Depending on where the geographic location is but we also bid alternates into the projects because we have more truck traffic on certain roads and we want to see what the different prices for alternate pricing would be," said County Engineer Doug Davis.

All of the roads will remain open during construction.

"It's in the contractors scope of work to flag traffic on these projects as well as having road signs up ahead of time," said Davis. "Traffic will not be stopped, we will not have detours, but it may be delayed with flaggers."

Both projects are estimated to cost over $500,000 and should take around four weeks to complete. A bid will be awarded on Thursday.
