St. Thomas Festival

A long time Zanesville tradition kicks off at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The St. Thomas Festival is an annual event that has been going on in Zanesville for more than 50 years. While the event usually coincides with Gus Macker, which has ben canceled this year, Festival Committee Member, Kristen Baughman, says she doesn't think it will have too big of an impact.

"I think we will have a good turnout" she said. "Of course we won't be here all day long so that will affect how much food we sell, but we are hoping. A lot of poeple didn't come in the evenings because it was so hard to find a parking spot, so I think people will come back out this year."

Baughman says the festival is not only a time of fun and games, but also serves as a reunion of friends, who sometimes only see each other at the festival.

"If you've never been here, it's just a new experience." said Baughman. "We are always looking for things to do in Zanesville, and this is a great family oriented event. You can bring your kids and the adults can have fun too. "

Baughman says with the warm weather they expect to sell a great deal of lemonade and water. Wednesday night will be teen night, and for a $6 cover charge it will feature a live band, pizza, pop, and popcorn. The festival runs through June 4th.
