In this tough economy, many people want the best for their families, and sometimes that means hard sacrifices, including giving up the family pet....but one local business did it's part today to fight for our four legged friends.

The Muskingum County Animal Shelter teamed up with City Tire to find local pets a good home. The shelter has had to turn away animals because they've been overcrowded. Executive Director, Larry Hostetler, said, they typically slow down in the winter months and are able to make room for the spring rush, but that wasn't the case.

"We didn't slow down this year. We've been pretty much at full capacity all year long," said Hostetler. "So now, we're getting hit with all these puppies and kittens and we don't have room. "

City Tire's Owner, David Frame, heard about the problem and said, it was originally his daughter's idea to to help the shelter.

"My daughter is really an animal lover," said Frame. "She'll go out there and volunteer and walk dogs and feed dogs."

Those who adopted pets today received $50 off new tires and a free oil-change. If you are interested in adopting an animal, you can visit the Muskingum County Animal Shelter.
