The 41st Annual Commencement for Zane State College featured a record number of graduates.
377 students walked across the stage today. Mayor, Butch Zwelling, was in attendance and said, more people than ever are going back to school.
We're in a recession, let's face it," said Zwelling. "And their are a lot of people with out jobs, who have chosen to enhance their education, while they're waiting out this thing. And they'll get a better job because of their enhanced education."
The school provides students, like Melissa Scott, a strong start to a second career.
"I am one of those people, the business, I actually worked for was a restaurant and they closed down," said Scott. "Where I live, it's very depressed, recessed, and in order to find a job you literally have to drive an hour to an hour and a half."
Scott is originally from Quaker City, about an hour south of Zanesville. She encourages others to take advantage of the programs offered at Zane State.
