First Day

1:16 Tuesday afternoon, marked the official start to summer, but even rain clouds couldn't keep the kids from having their summer fun.

Over 60 children took part in Science, Art, and Physical Education camps held at the Muskingum "Y" on Tuesday... At about 1 o'clock a long line of kids gathered infront of the swimming pool, waiting for the start of summer.Executive Director, Craig Miracle said, it's an experience they won't forget.

"I think it's just having all the kids here and the experience they get in meeting new friends and learning about different things," said Miracle. "Whether it's through science, art and craft, and just having a good time, enjoying the summer and being kids."

Miracle said, it's not too late to take advantage of all the "Y" has to offer.Camp is available, whether it is for the whole week, or for just a day. Miracle assures parents, it's not just fun, it's safe.

"The main thing with the kids is we keep them safe around the pool," said Miracle. "We swim test all of our kids and we offer a lot of swim lesson, so if anyone is interested they can still sign up for swim lessons this summer. "

The "Y" pool is open to the public. The cost is $5 for adults and kids, and free for children under the age of two.
