Christ's Table

It's been a tough year for Christ's Table in Zanesville and now it needs your help.

The non-profit organization provided more than 92,000 meals to the hungry and homeless last year. Executive Director, Keely Warden said, due to unforeseen building repairs this year they are ahead in spending and behind in income.

"But we're working really hard to make everything balance because what is important is to always feed the hungry," said Warden. "We will never turn anyone away for a meal here at Christ's Table."

Christ's Table receives the majority of its funding through donations, and although they do receive some Federal Funding, Warden said, it's a small amount in the scheme of things. It costs about $20,000 a month to operate and Federal Funding only provides about $6,000 a year. She said, despite popular belief winter months are not their most difficult times.

"Actually are numbers do go up in the summer," said Warden. "We so see a lot more children here when kids are out of school, we see more families here during June, July and August."

Christ's Table is currently accepting donations. They will be sponsoring a 5K run/walk Saturday. Registration is $10. They will also be selling lemonade at this years Stars and Stripes event on Sunday. A glass of lemonade is $5. All proceeds will go to Christ's Table. $1 feeds one person.
