A Cambridge bank was robbed Friday morning, and several citizens helped chase down the suspect.
Cambridge Police Chief Richard Wayt says just after 9:30 a man walked into Advantage Bank at 1814 Wheeling Avenue, indicated he had a weapon, and demanded cash.
"There was a threat of a weapon used." said Chief Wayt. "But as og yet we haven't determined if there was actually a weapon used or not"
He says an undisclosed amount of money was taken, and the man fled on foot. Wayt says a bank employee and several citizens chased the man a few blocks to the Old City Cemetary, located near Carlisle Avenue and 11th Street, and kept him there until police arrived.
"We had officers enter the cemetary, they were able to locate him, give a short chase, and was able to go ahead and take him into custody without incident." said Wayt.
The K-9 unit was also called in, and according to Wayt they were able to locate several pieces of evidence in the cemetary. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation was also called to the scene, and is assisting in processing evidence.
Chief Wayt says the suspect is not from the area, and his name is not being released until formal charges are filed.
