Muskingum County Commissioner Brian Hill is looking to be the next State Representative for Muskingum and Coshocton counties.
Former State Representative Troy Balderson was sworn-in Wednesday as the 20th District State Senator, replacing Jimmy Stewart, who resigned. Commissioner Hill says he was approached about possibly filling Balderson's seat.
"The state legislature will be appointing a search committee, and they will be conducting interviews." said Commissioner Hill. "Then the search commitee will go to the Republican Caucus, and they will vote to appoint a candidate."
He also says it would be a great opportunity to work for the people of Muskingum County from the Statehouse.
"I love representing the people of Muskingum County, this would be an opportunity to represent Muskingum as well as Coshocton counties." he said. "It's an honor to be considered."
Hill says, on the other hand, he hates leaving his position with the Commissioners with unfinished projects in place, and also has a family to consider.
"Any time you take a new position there are uncertainties." he said "Here I'm ten miles from home, and there I will be driving all over two counties, and back and forth to Columbus. I've got a young family, so there are always concerns. My children are young and they are getting involved in more and more things. All those things are playing into my decision, if I'm offered that position."
HIll says if he were to be appointed to the Statehouse, the Republican Central Committee in Muskingum County would be in charge of finding someone to fill his County Commissioner seat.
Zanesville Car Salesman Larry Good and Zanesville Attorney Jeanette Moll are also expressing interest in the 94th District Seat. They will be featured on the Whiz News on Friday July 15th.
